Arlington - The DeSoto Eagles completed an undefeated season in a dominating state championship win over Houston’s Summer Creek Bulldogs Saturday night.

In the UIL Championship finale, the Eagles defeated the Bulldogs rather handily with a 74 -14 victory. The Class 6A Division II State Title is the second consecutive title for DeSoto. With the win, they complete a perfect 15-0 season.

The first quarter saw 36 DeSoto points and sent many Summer Creek fans heading for the exits. The onslaught of scoring wouldn’t stop until the clock expired. The dominant scoring is not unusual for DeSoto, as the Eagles averaged a margin of victory of just under 33 points per game throughout the season.

Saturday’s win marks the second state title win for head coach Claude Mathis.
