Taste of Oak Cliff Festival Celebrates Diversity and Talent in the Community
Oak Cliff - In its third year, Taste of Oak Cliff did not disappoint the many attendees that converged on the neighborhood event.
The celebratory two-day food and culture festival welcomed the likes of many radio personalities, community activists and local businesses. There were pupusas served with the love of El Salvador, barbecue smoked as can only be done in the south and lemonade specially made by a child entrepreneur.
The Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce hosts the enlightening event, bringing together many of the community’s finest restaurants, breweries, shops and artists. It should also be noted that Taste of Oak Cliff showcases the great diversity in the area - the diversity in both advocacy of people and in business.
In addition to games and featured carnival-style rides for children, there were also onsite mammogram testing and informational displays about HIV/AIDs awareness.
A crowd favorite of the festival, was the Oak Cliff's Got Talent competition. The celebrity guest judge this year was Dr. Matthew Knowles.
Saturday, 15 contestants performed original music before the live audience. The finalists were brought back for a second performance on Sunday.
Much to the delight of his growing fan-base, 10 year old Dallas rapper Lil Money Mike took the crown Sunday, along with a $1,000 grand prize.
Taste of Oak Cliff has welcomed more than 20,000 attendees.
