For so many men, women and children the process of getting a new hairstyle or managing a style is simply a transaction between stylist and client. Hairstylist PaTrice Michelle Sales prides herself on providing a memorable and transformative experience for her clients.

Affectionately known as The Hair Charmer, Sales has worked with thousands of clients, provided innovative hairstyles for fashion shows and styled entire wedding parties. And she hasn’t even peeked yet. You’ll never hear her say she’s tired of being a hairstylist. In fact, while in her salon you’d be hard-pressed to find her sitting down. Her space exudes positive energy, she has affirmations posted everywhere and she loves to share laughs with her clients.

“To give a client new confidence and a sense of pride via a new and bold hairstyle means the world to me,” says Sales. “Hair is my passion.”

The 35-year-old mother and entrepreneur wasn’t always so sure about dedicating the entirety of her workday to transforming hair. Like many young creatives, Sales faced the challenge of managing her corporate career, while not forsaking her creative calling. With college degrees in both mathematics and science, Sales was quite comfortable working as a technology specialist for Southwest. She was putting her degree to use and definitely earning a comfortable salary.

Something was missing.

Sales was born in Ohio, and grew up in both Crossett, Arkansas and the western suburbs of Chicago. Throughout her childhood and her adolescence, one thing remained a constant. She was drawn to hair and ever- so- intrigued to ‘do’ hair.

Before she reached kindergarten, she was braiding hair. By middle school, Sales was trying out new styles on girls in the neighborhood. At just three years old, she proclaimed to her family that she wanted to be a stylist. One day her mother came home and almost immediately fell asleep. Less than an hour later she would wake up covered in hair grease.

“I remember the whipping I got for manipulating my mother’s freshly done hairstyle from the salon,” laughs Sales. "I remember thinking I can redo that style much better.”

Today, “The Hair Charmer” is a popular stylist in the very competitive beauty industry of Dallas. She has won many awards, including 1st Place in Ogle Face-off 2017; two-time Wella TrendVision honorable mention for hair coloring (2015 and 2017); the Beacon Award Winner (2017) for unique hairstyling and she received 2nd Place for Putting on the Ritz.

Her calendar tends to fill quickly. Many clients have caught on to both her expertise and her charm. Sitting in her chair is no simple gesture for Sales – she feels personally responsible for the health and maintenance of your “look.” She also cares about the person. Adding client birthdays to her personal planner and noting “favorites” are daily practices for the stylist.

The licensed hairstylist is well versed in all textures of natural hair. Many of her clients have locs, but never know their full loc-potential until Sales shows them various styles and color options.

Sales welcomes any and all hair challenges. “With your inspiration and my eye, together we will make magic,” she smiles. “Your crown is my canvas.”
