Walt Disney World Hosts RunDisney Races

With the start of another new year here, once again people will be making their New Year’s resolutions, and one of the most common will be to get fit.  With those annual ambitions in mind, Disney has announced some news to help to make sticking to those resolutions more fun, and therefore more achievable, with the release of the runDisney race dates for 2019-2020. Now, those looking to get in shape can set their fitness goals around the one-of-a-kind racing series.

The runDisney races are a series of road races which offer participants a chance to run through the Walt Disney World Theme Parks.  Beyond the enchanted setting, these aren’t typical road races, as runDisney offers a significant dose of Disney magic with fun themes, live entertainment and Disney character appearances on the courses.  With race distances including 5K (3.1 miles), 10K (6.2 miles), half marathon (13.1 miles), marathon (26.2 miles) and multi-race challenges, there is a distance for practically every level of runner.

To top it off, all runDisney finishers receive a commemorative, uniquely themed medal inspired by the runDisney weekend theme, offering a memento to mark the achievement forever.  In addition, the entire family gets to benefit with a vacation experience at Walt Disney World that makes the accomplishment of completing the race even more special.

If a trip to Walt Disney World isn’t possible, people can still take part in runDisney races by opting for a virtual race.  Racers sign-up and commit to completing a specific distance over a dedicated period of time from anywhere in the world to earn specially themed medals.  The virtual races also provide a fun way to train for one of other runDisney races.

The runDisney race dates for the 2019-2020 series at Walt Disney World Resort are:

  • Disney’s Wine & Dine Weekend (Oct 31 – Nov 3, 2019)

  • Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend (Jan. 8 – 12, 2020)

  • Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend (Feb. 20 – 29, 2020)

  • Star Wars Rival Run Weekend (April 16 -19, 2020)
