Urban Meyer Announces Retirement

Urban Meyer has retired.

The veteran coach announced Tuesday that he will be leaving Ohio State after the Rose Bowl.

Meyer, 54, remains adamant that he is leaving Ohio State because of health issues. Meyer has reportedly suffered severe headaches from an arachnoid brain cyst. He previously underwent brain surgery to relieve pressure from the cyst.

Many critics believe that Meyer is simply trying to get away from the drama surrounding Ohio State this season. While Meyer may be the most winningest coach in college football, he was suspended for three games earlier this season after an investigation found that he mishandled accusations of domestic abuse against former assistant coach Zach Smith.

Without a doubt, Meyer’s departure will impact recruiting for Ohio State.
