Dallas Cowboys' Problems on Full Display
It’s Monday night and the Dallas Cowboys’ problems are on Primetime television for the world to see.
The Cowboys need a new head coach, a new offensive coordinator and a new starting quarterback.
Head coach Jason Garrett has survived long after his expiration date as a coach. Scott Linehan obviously has little faith in his quarterback and has all but forgotten about the greatness that is Ezekiel Elliot in the backfield. Dak Prescott has progressively become more hesitant in his approach as quarterback since his outstanding rookie season.
America’s Team has lost to a Tennessee Titans team that was definitely beatable. They sit in an ever so open NFC East Division with a 3 – 5 record. Still on the schedule: Philadelphia, Atlanta, Washington, New Orleans and Philadelphia again.
Not even the most naive Cowboys fan thought this team was primed for the Super Bowl, but it was at least believed that the Cowboys had a shot at the playoffs. With their remaining schedule, Dallas may not reach six wins this season.
The addition of Amari Cooper was cute, and the Cowboys were hoping the acquisition would squelch some of the frustration about releasing Dez Bryant. A first half endzone interception, however, reminded Cowboys fans that Cooper is no Bryant.
Prescott launched a redzone pass that would require a receiver to soar and fight for the ball. Cooper stretched out his arm, but didn’t fight for the ball, as a Titans’ defender picked off the pass.
The offensive play calling is horrendous. Prescott holds the ball too long. And of course the offensive line is not what it used to be.
Dallas has a good defense this season, but not even a good defense can sustain a lacking offense for four quarters.
Here’s hoping Jerry Jones pulls the plug on Jason Garrett by Tuesday morning.
