If Derrick Rose is BACK - Jimmy Butler can GO

If Derrick Rose is BACK - Jimmy Butler can GO

It’s no mystery, Jimmy Butler wants out of Minnesota. Why exactly one of our favorite players has become such a nuisance about his displeasure with his team is beyond us.

Last night vintage Derrick Rose helped his team to a 128 -125 victory over a very good Utah Jazz team. He slashed through the lane. He rebounded. He found his teammates. He was everything we remember from the D. Rose Chicago Saga. He led all scorers with 50 points. Rose also added four rebounds, six assists, two steals and a block.

"I worked my ass off," he said in a on-court postgame interview. "I did this for the franchise, the fans, the organization.”

The Timberwolves are a good young team, with a proven coach in Tom Thibodeau. The combination of Karl Anthony-Towns, Andrew Wiggins and the resurgence of Rose make for a promising run in the Western Conference.

While Butler’s loyalty clearly isn’t to the coach who recruited him to Minnesota when he wanted out of the Windy City – Rose appears to be grateful to Thibodeau. In a tearful dialogue, Rose seemed to just be excited about playing basketball at an impressive level once again.

The Timberwolves are obviously trying to recoup some players of comparable value for Butler, but perhaps a less dramatic swingman may be worth a visit.

There is no denying Butler’s ability, but his preseason antics brought unnecessary attention to an otherwise peaceful franchise. He even elected to sit out of Wednesday night’s matchup against Utah to expedite a trade.

If Derrick Rose of old is returning to form after seasons of injuries – Jimmy Butler can just be on his way.
