Arlington - The Dallas Wings (8-22) played inspired basketball Tuesday night, defeating the Las Vegas Aces (18-12) 93-90. The win is the second consecutive come-from-behind victory before the home crowd.

Satou Sabally led the Wings with 28 points, making four of her six attempts from three. Natasha Howard added 24 points and had three blocks. Arike Ogunbowale once again played the entire 40 minutes. She added 20 points for Dallas. Teaira McGowan had 17 rebounds for the home team - 11 of them coming on the offensive board.

Despite a 42 point performance by MVP frontrunner A’ja Wilson, the Wings and their more balanced offensive attack held on for the victory. Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray did contribute 17 and 15 points respectively, but the Dallas defense had an answer for the veteran guards in the final quarter.

“We knew it would be a battle coming in with Vegas,” Howard said post game. “Vegas has a chip on their shoulder. But we’re trying to get into the playoffs - we did a good job on both ends of the floor.”

Dallas certainly didn’t look like an 8-22 team Tuesday evening. As the team has done in both wins and losses this season - they communicated with one another and made many hustle plays. The Wings went on to rebound the Aces 40-26.

“We did amazing holding Jackie (Young) under 20; holding Chelsea (Gray) and Kelsey (Plum) under 20” Sabally said. “We contained a lot of other players on the team and that’s just a great team effort and what set us apart today.”

Sabally made certain to acknowledge the contributions of Howard, calling her the “best vet in the league.” She also praised the poise and overall on-court calmness of rookie Jacy Sheldon.

“We see everything coming together slowly,” Sabally added. “This is what we wanted.”
