Arlington - Despite residing in the bottom of WNBA standings this season, the Los Angeles Sparks and the Dallas Wings gave fans a great four quarters of basketball Saturday afternoon. The Sparks (6-17) would go on to earn the 87 - 81 win over Dallas (5 -19).

Dearica Hamby finised with 27 points for the Sparks, leading the game in scoring as she made 13 of her 24 shot attempts. Rookie Rickea Jackson scored a career-high 23 points. Former Dallas forward Azura’ Stevens added 16 points, shooting a perfect four of four from three.

Dallas trailed by double digits twice in Saturday’s competition, but both leads were short lived. The Wings, a much better team than their record reflects fought from start to finish before an excited College Park crowd.

On her 32nd birthday, Odyssey Sims played all but one minute for the Wings. She was also the home team’s leading scorer, with 23 points. She added five assists and five rebounds to her stat line. Sims has scored in double figures in seven games since re-signing with the team in late June.

Dallas will face the Indiana Fever in Arlington on Wednesday, before the league takes an extended pause for the Olympics.
