Connecticut Extends Win Streak Against Dallas
Arlington - The Dallas Wings (3-9) are trying desperately to end a losing-streak, but an early Saturday game against the Connecticut Sun (12-1) proved to be yet another challenge.
The Sun would begin the contest with a quick 10-0 run. Dallas would go on to play catch up the entire game. The offense for Coach Latricia Trammell’s team never managed to get a solid run going.
Maddy Siegrest, who has more than doubled her scoring average from a year ago contributed 16 points for the Wings. Teaira McCowan also scored 16 points and had a game-high 10 rebounds. Arike Ogunbowale struggled from the field, making only two of her 15 shot attempts in her 35 minutes of play. The all-star guard scored a season low 11 points, but did manage a team high five assists.
As has been the narrative throughout the consecutive losses, Dallas never gave up. The Wings were able to pull within seven points, 36-29, near the end of the first half. After a Connecticut timeout to regroup, the league’s top team would go on to enter the locker room with a ten point halftime lead.
The Sun returned to the court in the third quarter, poised to put the home team away. Dallas was outscored 25-13 in the third quarter. Rachel Banham and Dijonai Carrington led the Sun in scoring with 16 and 14 points respectively.
Dallas hopes to have a better outing on Monday against the Minnesota Lynx.
