High School Football Returns to DFW with Friday Night Thriller

Byron Eaton’s (Lincoln) 193 passing yards and 134 rushing yards prove not to be enough against the late game heroics of Fort Worth’s O.D. Wyatt.

Dallas - Friday Night Lights returned to the Dallas/Forth Worth area in thrilling fashion at Sprague Stadium.

As time in the fourth quarter began to fade Friday night, the Dallas Lincoln (Tigers) team appeared poised for the win. The Tigers were up 39-33 against Fort Worth’s OD Wyatt (Chaparrals), when quarterback Byron Eaton Jr. rushed for 34 yards to the 41 yard line of the Chaparrals.

The Tigers couldn’t convert another first down to secure the game and had to punt to the Chaparrals. After a very back and forth game, full of offense - the Chaparrals would not be denied with one last possession.

O.D. Wyatt quarterback Kaid Barrett sent a lateral pass to Ashtin Watkins with only 30 seconds remaining. Watkins then launched the ball to receiver Dartagnan Crawford, who had separated himself from the Lincoln defender, and inevitably ran for an 80-yard touchdown.

Much to the delight of the O.D. Wyatt fans - kicker Christian Ramos kicked the game winning point after.

While the Chaparrals boast the winning quarterback this weekend, Lincoln’s quarterback proved to have an impressive night statistically. Eaton Jr. completed 13 of his 22 passes Friday night for a total of 193 yards and had three touchdowns passes to three different receivers. He was also the the Tigers leading rusher with 134 yards.

O.D. Wyatt will face Joshua next Friday. Lincoln will host rival team - Madison in the South Dallas Super Bowl next Saturday.
