Sexual Predators Surface in Support of Bill Cosby

Sistahs, just because you didn’t abort the baby – that doesn’t mean you weren’t raped. Just because he has a real career, helps you with the baby and apologizes to you daily – that doesn’t mean you weren’t sexually abused. Even though your mom didn’t believe you, that doesn’t mean that your father, uncle or the good old Bishop were right for pulling you on their laps and kissing you.

Brothas, you live in an America that reminds you each day of the white man’s privilege. Please abort your quest to attain his privilege. In doing so, you are constantly attempting to excuse the behaviors of sexual predators.

For the people way in the back:

Rape is defined as unlawful sexual activity and usually sexual intercourse carried out forcibly or under threat of injury against a person's will or with a person who is beneath a certain age or incapable of valid consent because of mental illness, mental deficiency, intoxication, unconsciousness, or deception.

Bill Cosby has admitted to drugging women in order to gain an advantage over them and in turn he has sexually assaulted them. That is assault. That is misconduct. That is all wrong. He has admitted to his wrongdoing.

Why exactly are you defending him?

Two reasons: either you are a filthy subconscious supporter of this longstanding rape culture. Or you are a victim and in unfortunate, yet repetitive victim fashion – as a means of coping with your hurt you now deflect and minimize. Both are unhealthy and you are part of the problem that our children and our unborn children will forever face. Your defending Cosby today will be part of the reason your daughter never tells you that her uncle is touching her right now.

You think that good ol Heathcliff Huxtable should get a pass because he’s 81 years old. You think he should be left alone because of how many careers he ignited. You think that because those crimes were so long ago, he should be forgiven because of all the good he has done since then. No, that’s not it – you think he should be untouchable because Charlie Sheen is still freely making money, because Kevin Spacey, Bill O’Reilly, and Donald Trump are all free and not fearful of prosecution.

I get it. You believe that Bill Cosby shouldn’t be looking at three to ten years behind bars because the white men who were accused and found guilty of similar crimes have not been punished. You are blinded by the audacity of WRONG. In a world full of colorful crime, you are attaching punishment to color so exactingly that you are willing to sacrifice one man’s victims to inundate yourselves with a temporary justice that doesn’t really exist.

During this same month of September we took to the streets to protest for innocent Brother Botham Jean, because we believe that we live in an America that has always had a tolerance for black suffering. How exactly do we exist in an America where we know this and yet still expect white men to be punished like black men? We know better.  It’s part of our every single day, however, we can’t be so consumed with our demands for equality that we confuse and inevitably replace those demands with a stipulate for acceptance.

Bill Cosby ruined his own legacy. He is being punished for his own crimes. We cannot give him a pass for his indiscretions because the white man, whose privilege we acknowledge every single day is not getting the same punishment.

In case you’ve forgotten - to be black means to be extra cautious of biases, logical in our movements, more susceptible to prejudice and fully aware that in our victimization we will still be criminalized and on the other end of our criminal acts is a stronger punishment.

It’s not fair, but when has being black ever been synonymous with fairness?
