Erykah Badu Receives Soul Train 'Legend' Award

“I don’t need you to understand me - I need you to be inspired.”

The Soul Train Awards aired tonight and Dallas ambassador Erykah Badu stole the show once again. The celebrated artist received the Legend Award.

As part of her honor, Soul Train shared footage of Badu’s notorious “Window Seat” video, in which she took the streets of Dallas completely naked. Throughout her career, Badu has pushed every envelope and she has been a true innovator. From her eccentric hairstyles, to the gold grill - she has never asked us permission or complained about being misunderstood. What she has done is inspired the masses.

After receiving her award, Badu took the stage to share her many talents as both a lyricists and as a vocalist. The hitmaker was able to bring the audience to its feet with ease.
