International Travel is More Affordable than You Think
For some people, international travel just sounds expensive. You’d be surprised how far $1,000 can get you.
Around March, my mom and I literally spun the globe and landed on a place. (Yes, kind of like Prince Akeem did in “Coming to America.”) We take a “mommy and daughter” vacation every summer - its been a tradition since I was a little girl.
My index finger was on Spain when the globe came to a stop. We decided to travel to Barcelona.
Our first thoughts included: how many days will we stay since traveling to Europe from the states takes a full day? What hotels amenities are optional? What airline do we trust most not to lose our valuables? And lastly, how much money do we want to spend for this vacation?
We decided to go with United Airlines. Although I have a real affinity for American Airlines, United did not disappoint. Our hotel was the lovely TRYP Barcelona hotel. According to my research, twin beds are typically the norm in Europe. This didn’t prove to be as much of a disappointment as we anticipated.
For a total of $1300 per person, my mom and I traveled from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport to Washington D.C. and then to Barcelona.
