Mitchell Family Inspires Dallas
While photographing the Southern Methodist University and Cincinnati football game over the weekend, I spotted a familiar family on the sidelines at Gerald Ford Stadium.
About four years ago, I had the privilege of photographing The Mitchells - an incredible Dallas family. Their son Dillon was especially friendly and talkative during our photo session. He even walked side by side with me, as we navigated our way through Deep Ellum for unique portrait backgrounds.
Today, Dillon still has a warm smile and an infectious personality. The only thing different now – Dillon moves around in his wheelchair.
After the family experienced a very serious car accident in 2017, Dillon was rushed to Children’s Medical Center of Dallas where a team of specialists worked tirelessly to save his life. This incredible young man was left paralyzed. His zeal for life, however, has never been more purposeful.
Saturday, both Children’s Hospital and the SMU home crowd celebrated Dillon and his family. He was even able to meet one of his favorite football players, former SMU and NFL running back Eric Dickerson.
Not only has Dillon become a championed spokesperson for the incredible work done at the award-winning hospital – Dillon also serves as an inspiration for people all around the world.
