WNBA Star Skylar Diggins-Smith is Expecting

Dallas Wings veteran Skylar Diggins-Smith and husband Daniel are expecting their first child.

“Can’t wait to meet you!”, Diggins-Smith wrote on Instagram, along with a video of her sonogram last Wednesday.

The announcement comes with great excitement for Diggins-Smith and her family. Her availability for the 2019 WNBA season on the other hand will remain a mystery for some time. While Diggins-Smith deserves to expand her family on her own terms and enjoy the process, of course her latest announcement causes a stir in the WNBA.

She is the fuel that gets the Wings off of the the ground. She is the energy. She is the voice of reason. She is also the assist leader for the Wings, and the one who repeatedly feeds one Liz Cambage in the paint.

The Australian born Cambage is enjoying her time playing back home in the offseason, but all indication a couple of months back pointed to her returning to a worthy Wings’ organization alongside Diggins-Smith. Her valid complaints about being double-teamed and bruised by players this season may weigh a bit heavier on her should Diggins-Smith not be ready to go by next summer.

Basketball aside, this is indeed a happy time for Diggins-Smith. She has every right to grow her family and here’s hoping for a pleasant pregnancy, a safe delivery and a healthy baby. The game can definitely be an afterthought for the feisty point guard for the next several months.
